About Pisa

Pisa is an ancient city full of Romanesque buildings and charming piazzas that beg to be explored. Founded along the River Arno, the city was once a powerful maritime nation. Nowadays, Pisa is most famous for its lending tower, which is a must-see. Arriving in Pisa

Traveling to Pisa is easy and cheap. Many low-cost airlines operate out of Galileo Galilei Airport, which is also the main airport for the entire region of Tuscany. The airport is close to the city center, just 1 km to the main train station. Once at the train station you should be one your way shortly, as trains depart every 30 minutes to the main station. The L.A.M Rossa bus connects to the central train station and Campo Dei Miracoli, and departs every 10 -15 minutes.

Traveling around Pisa

Pisa is a small city and all major landmarks and museums can be conveniently reached by foot. Generally speaking, all major attractions are within a half-hour walk of each other. There is a regular bus service around the city that includes stops at the Field of Miracles. Local bus tickets can be purchased at the news stand or tobacco shops near marked bus stops. There are car rental companies at the airport, but you only really need a car if you are continuing your trip on to visit other cities. Pisa has a huge selection of accommodation, from affordable hostels to 5 star hotels, gorgeous farm houses and plenty of bed and breakfasts.
