The journey from Vienna back to Munich was one of the last stops on my return journey from Budapest. I can't complain about the comfort. Very nice and helpful staff played a big part. Only unfortunately the shaking during the journey made it a bit uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the toilets are not the cleanest and delays cannot be avoided. Nevertheless, the train ride is worth it for such a price.
Pros
IconClean WCs
IconComfortable seats
IconSockets
IconGood wifi
Cons
IconAnnouncements too loud
When I took the Westbahn, I immediately noticed the good wifi. I have travelled with the Westbahn very often, but this time I have to say that this was the best journey of all so far. The toilets are clean as always and the staff are also nice. It's very easy to make a reservation. Every seat has a power socket and they all work. The Westbahn is also always on time. The announcements are a bit loud, but it's still good value for money.
Pros
Iconfast without changing
Cons
IconNo rest in the rest area
This was a comfortable, entertaining train ride. Thanks to wifi and a power socket on the train, I was able to stream films without any problems. It was a direct connection from Vienna to Munich without hectic transfers. Unfortunately, there was no peace and quiet in the so-called rest area. I noticed the cleanliness, also in the toilets, positively. Good price-performance ratio.
Pros
IconNice staff
IconComfort
IconGood value
Cons
IconDelays
IconWIFI
IconNo sockets
IconPoor hygiene
A few days ago, we were on a day trip in Vienna and decided to take the train on the way back. It was super easy and spontaneous to book the tickets and in itself it is a very cheap thing to do. The staff was very nice and fortunately there was no lack of comfort this time. Only disappointingly, I have to mention the delays of the trains again. In addition, of course, there was once again a lack of hygiene and unclean toilets. Unfortunately, the wifi wasn't the best either, and since we had often used our mobile phones after such a long day and wanted to charge them, there were no sockets at our seats (unfortunately, this was very annoying).
Pros
IconOn time
IconClean
IconFew stops
Cons
IconHeight difference between platform and wagon
The train was on time as almost always, the carriage including the toilet was clean. The staff was friendly as always. In 1st class, as usual, there was a socket between the seats and it worked. The wifi also worked perfectly. The train was on time to Freilassing. The railway cannot be held responsible for the delay due to border controls. The train only stops 4 times between Vienna and Munich and I would recommend it to anyone travelling this route. The only negative point would be the difference in height between the carriage and the platform in both Vienna and Munich. Difficult with heavy luggage or physical limitations.
Pros
IconClean
IconClean toilet
IconUSB sockets
IconComfortable seats
Cons
IconDeparted 2 min too late
The train journey by ICE from Vienna to Munich was very pleasant. The seats were comfortable and allowed for restful sleep. The USB sockets at the seat were extremely practical and the clean toilets pleased me even more. The only minor criticism is that the train left 2 minutes late, but that was not really a problem for me. I can really recommend this train trip to everyone, especially for business trips.
Pros
IconQuiet train ride
IconGood information dissemination
Cons
IconRather expensive
IconToo few resting cars
Comfort: the train is fast but very quiet, you don't feel disturbed. Of course, you can't choose the people sitting next to you, sometimes it was a bit noisy, but the train can't do much about that. Catering: there was a bistro car where you could get something to eat. Service: I always felt well informed about the status of the journey (information about the next stops, etc.).
Pros
IconFast drive
IconRailjet Express is better than ICE
Cons
IconNothing negative
The journey from Vienna to Munich is very pleasant on the RJ Express. The journey only takes 4 hours. In addition, the RJ trains of the Austrian Federal Railway are very clean, the seats are comfortable and the prices are acceptable even in first class. The wifi is better than on the German railway. Unfortunately, however, the economy fare in conjunction with first class does not give you access to the DB Lounge.
Pros
IconVery nice travel experience
IconPleasant and fast
Cons
IconEverything went without a hitch
The train connection was very punctual. The timetable was adhered to exactly, which made for a smooth journey. The ticket price was reasonable for the services offered. The option to book in advance gave me a more favourable fare. The cleanliness of the train was mostly good. The seats and general area were tidy. The free wifi on the train worked perfectly, the connection was stable and the speed made it easy to use internet services. The toilets were acceptable, but there was room for improvement. Some restocking such as toilet paper or hand soap would be desirable. Overall, I liked the train connection very much. Hence my recommendation.
Pros

IconRestaurant
IconPunctuality
Cons
IconWifi not fast
IconWeak sockets
IconOptics not very inviting
Overall, the train was 100% convincing. The staff on board were pleasant and professional. It was a lot of fun travelling on this beautiful route. Apart from that, there was also a lot of delicious food on offer. The train left Vienna on time and arrived in Munich on the dot. There was no need to change trains.
Pros
IconFavourable
IconWIFI
IconFriendly staff
Cons
IconPunctuality
IconTrain cancellation
IconUnplanned changeover
My journey from Vienna to Munich was affected by the Deutsche Bahn strike and only went as far as Salzburg. There I had to change unscheduled to the BOB regional train to continue my journey to Munich. It was pleasantly quiet in my 2nd class carriage due to the small number of passengers. I had a table and a power socket at my seat. The wifi was interrupted from time to time, which made it difficult to work with my laptop. A restaurant car and WC were available, but I did not make use of them.
Pros
IconPunctuality
IconCleanliness
The train connection was mostly on time, which was very positive. The fare was reasonable, but there were some inconveniences. The cleanliness was acceptable, but improvements can be made. The wifi worked well for the most part, but there were moments of poor connection. The toilets were clean and well equipped. Seating comfort was average, lacking adjustable seats. Overall a reliable train service, but small improvements could greatly enhance the experience.
Pros
IconNice staff
IconClean train
Cons
Icon20 minutes late
The journey was relatively relaxed and I was able to travel through without having to change trains. The conductor was very friendly to me. I was able to find a seat and it was comfortable. I also had a power socket at my seat. The train itself was very well cleaned and didn't smell. The toilet was also relatively clean, but very smelly. The journey took about 4 hours and apart from the delay of about 20 minutes, I am satisfied.
Pros
IconIt was quiet in my compartment
IconThe seats were comfortable
Cons
IconWe arrived in Vienna about 20 minutes late.
The journey was relatively relaxed. I found the seats very comfortable and there were power sockets available. The conductor was nice to me. It was very quiet in my compartment and I was able to relax and work. The toilet was clean, but it stank like hell. Unfortunately, we arrived at our destination station, Munich Central Station, about 20 minutes late. On a positive note, the train compartment itself was very clean.
Pros
IconBeautiful view
Cons
IconPricewise okay
As on the previous journey, I travelled on the RJX63 train again on the return journey. The view was again very nice and the service was, as so often, nice and polite. The wifi worked again without any problems and the train was also super tidy before the guests were allowed to take their seats. The price was okay, but I would have liked this journey to be cheaper, then I would definitely travel the route more often. The cleanliness of the train was also perfectly okay
Pros
IconNice service
Cons
IconWeak wifi connection
As with the journey to Vienna, I also travelled back with the RJX63. Unfortunately, only this time there was hardly a good connection to the wifi, which is why I had problems doing my work on my laptop. Despite everything, the service was very nice to me and the journey was quicker this time. So I arrived back in Munich with a good feeling and was satisfied. The train was very clean and well maintained
Pros
IconNo delay
IconVery friendly staff
Cons
IconHigh price
In contrast to my outward journey to Vienna, the return journey was much better. Although the ticket costs a lot, it was well worth it. I arrived home after exactly 4 hours without any delays. Everything was clean and tidy again, as were the toilets. The timetable was a 4-stop journey with no changes. I was able to talk to the very friendly staff and they also helped me with a problem. The train number was RJX 68.
Pros
IconAll WCs open and clean
IconWifi works
Cons
IconWas pretty expensive
Timetable: without changing trains, with 4 stops. Journey time: 4 hours and 20 minutes approximately Train number: RJX 62 The slightly annoyed staff had shown me to my seat. The wifi was working and I had a power socket to charge my laptop. There was hardly any noise, so I was able to work undisturbed. Everything was clean, only the toilets were a bit scruffy. There were no delays. The price was a bit high for my ratio.
Pros
IconThere was wifi
IconEverything clean
Cons
IconSlight delay
Timetable: direct to destination with a short delay and without changing trains. Journey time: the journey took around 4 hours with a delay of 15 minutes. Train number: the train number was RJX 62. As with every RJX, comfort was once again excellent. The toilets were clean and the whole train was hygienic. The wifi worked, which it didn't on another journey. Staff also very friendly and helpful when I needed help.
