Dan-Air was a British airline established in 1953 as a subsidiary of Davies and Newman, a London-based shipbroking firm. It began with a single aircraft and initially focused on cargo and passenger charter flights. Over its 39-year history, Dan-Air expanded significantly, becoming Britain's largest independent airline by the mid-1970s in terms of passengers and fleet size. The airline was an early adopter of jet aircraft in Britain, introducing de Havilland Comet jets in 1966 and becoming the first British operator of the Boeing 727 trijet in 1973. Dan-Air operated a diverse fleet for inclusive tour charters, scheduled services, and oil industry support flights, with hubs including London Gatwick and Berlin–Tegel. Facing financial difficulties, Dan-Air ceased operations in 1992 and was acquired by British Airways.

Malta Air is a low-cost airline that began operations in 2019, initially as a joint venture between Ryanair and the Government of Malta. Ryanair acquired full ownership of the company in 2025. The airline operates from Malta International Airport and has expanded its network to include numerous routes across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Malta Air primarily utilizes Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 200 aircraft, focusing on high-density, short to medium-haul flights.
