EasyJet: easyJet is now the second largest low-cost carrier in Europe, behind Ryanair. The company considers itself a pioneer in online booking for travel. Initially, easyJet bookings could only be completed over the phone, but in 1997 easyJet launched a website for direct easyJet bookings. The initial two routes that were operated by easyJet were from London Luton to Glasgow and to Edinburgh. easyJet now covers more than 900 routes both domestically and internationally in 32 countries.
easyJet currently offers 927 routes between 156 airports in 33 countries, mainly focusing on Europe, North Africa and selected parts of the Middle East. In Germany, the British airline does not only serve its own routes. Since 2017, it has also been operating around 250 flights a week, which were previously operated by the carrier Air Berlin, which was stationed at Berlin-Tegel Airport.
This means that most European cities can be explored with easyJet at an attractive price: London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Amsterdam and Istanbul are within reach with the low-cost airline. From destinations such as Frankfurt am Main, Munich or Berlin, easyJet also offers numerous connections to popular holiday destinations such as Palma de Mallorca.
The easyJet route plan combines efficiency with the demands of modern travellers: The Berlin-London route, which is particularly popular with business travellers, is served up to five times a day during the week, with flights lasting around two hours from morning to evening. If you are looking for a spontaneous trip to the fascinating Spanish metropolis of Barcelona (2:40 hours) or if you feel a longing for the magnificent Hungarian capital Budapest (1:40 hours), easyJet with at least one daily flight from Berlin is a good choice. Connections within the borders of Germany are also very popular: Frankfurt - Berlin (1:20 hours) is flown up to four times a day.
In principle, easyJet operates with standard tariffs that are inexpensive and omit most extras. This option includes the flight and a piece of hand luggage - perfect for minimalists. If you don't know exactly when the desired flight will take off, the FLEXI fares are ideal: With this ticket, flight dates and times can be adjusted free of charge. Also amenities like 23kg free baggage allowance, speedy boarding, a bistro voucher and a fast-track security check make this type of ticket particularly suitable for business travellers.
For frequent travel, the easyJet Plus fare is worthwhile, which guarantees cardholders benefits such as free choice of seat, an additional piece of hand luggage and the use of Speedy Boarding as well as Fast Track security checks. Frequent flyers can also choose from the Flight Club loyalty program, which includes free name changes. Children under the age of two travel cheaper and enjoy benefits such as two items on board and snack packages that include games and painting materials.
In order to keep prices as low as possible, easyJet is committed to a reduced service policy. Basically you may take a piece of hand luggage on board which does not exceed the size of 56x45x25cm. If you have checked baggage, you can simply book it with a mouse click: 15kg, 23kg or 32kg - the passengers have the possibility of flexible handling.
Passengers with special needs are given the best possible support during their flight with easyJet: Support services at the airport, additional baggage allowance and wheelchairs on board make it possible to fly independently. Travel with a registered guide dog is also possible at no extra cost. Apart from this exception, no animals are allowed on board easyJet.
Given the popularity of short trips with easyJet, knowing the difference between the type of luggage packages you can choose from with easyJet is very important. More and more people are choosing not to check in luggage due to excessive fees and waiting times upon arrival. Below is everything you need to know about your luggage allowance with easyJet.

Checking in to easyJet flights is simple: it can be done using the easyJet website or in the app under "Manage Bookings". Check-in is available up to 30 days or just 2 hours before your flight departs; however, do make sure that you check in prior to your flight as failure to do so may risk missing your flight. If any information concerning your flight has changed e.g. you changed the name, added luggage or your flight time has changed, then simply check in again and print off a new boarding pass.
In order to check in, you must have filled out your identification information, called Advanced Passenger information (API). This includes your name, address and passport number when you can fill out during online check-in, for example. Whether or not this ID is required will depend on the route you're taking; but failing to present it upon request will mean you can't board the flight.
