An Introduction to Omio

Omio is part of TrafficBroker, an award winning internet marketing agency specialising in paid search and exciting web developments. Founded in 2004, we’ve quickly established ourselves as one of the largest super affiliates and manage advertising spend for many blue chip companies worldwide. We’re based in London and employ over 45 staff in the UK, with additional technical staff in our offshore development centres. Our competitive advantage comes through our technology leadership and we believe whole-heartedly in Agile development methodologies. We are looking for a highly focused individual who will technically design, develop and release our new complex websites and internal systems as part of a motivated on- and off-shore team. The position may be on Omio or a number of different exciting web projects.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Business: Learning how our business works, how we make money on the Internet and our future direction.
  • Pushing Boundaries: Implementing new solutions in a matter of days from idea to implementation.
  • Development: Defining the architecture of our proprietary software and getting your hands dirty implementing the solution.

The successful candidate will have the following qualities:

  • Entrepreneurial: You love new businesses and ideas, and can’t wait to make them happen.
  • Work Ethic: We are a small company and you will be expected to work hard.
  • Internet: You have a passion for the Internet.
  • Analytical: Attention to detail and the ability to sift through huge data sets are essential. You must think logically and be good at reverse engineering.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communications skills are critical as you will be working across functional teams within the company.
  • Ruby on Rails Code: Superb technical skills, which lead to excellent and well documented and tested code, written primarily in Ruby on Rails.
  • Method: You will be experienced in Agile and/or comfortable going from idea to implementation in days, not months.

We are looking for:

  • Hard core programmer
  • Proven experience and skill writing Web services - back-end and front-end
  • Deep experience in HTML, HTTP, XML/HTTP, CSS
  • Deep understanding of scalable Web server and database architectures
  • Website programming experience, particularly Linux/Apache/MySQL/RubyOnRails
  • Skill at (and joy in) creating scalable web services and web sites
  • Ruby on Rails – have launched at least one system with Ruby, Rails or Python
  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related field
  • Ajax a plus
  • DBA experience (especially in MySQL) a plus
