Omio was launched in November 2007 with the aim of simplifying the whole process of researching and buying a mobile phone. Omio lets visitors search over 10,000 mobile phone deals from all the major online retailers and operators. Through using simple customisable search filters, visitors can choose a wide variety of features that appeal to them such as handset, network, payment plan, and inclusive minutes and messages. All information on the site is up-to-date thanks to feeds that are updated daily. Version 2 makes the whole process incredibly easy and user friendly.
Version 2 was developed through extensive user testing and includes simplified deal finder filters, Omio’s Picks, a new blog and a new design. The Omio’s Picks section gathers together the best phones in different categories for those unsure about the different types of phones. Even though the simplified deal finder filters use complex search algorithms they are incredibly easy to use.

The next step for Omio is the development of user content. A major goal for Omio is to be one of the leading mobile phone news sites that offers a unique experience unlike other mobile phone comparison sites. Omio has already started work on some major community aspects of the site. The vision for Omio is of a mobile community that actively discusses the latest phones, accessories and downloads. Users will see the first of these features in quarter 2.
