^* Where is Omio’s price data from?

Omio gets all its price data by keeping track of all the deals that we compare.

For our Pay Monthly prices, the values are calculated using weighted cost. This is a combination of a contract’s line rental, the contract length, the value of additional offers, and the handset’s sale value.

The handset value is zero in the first example, as it is given away for free with the contract in question.

((monthly-cost * contract-length) + handset-cost - offer-value) / contract-length

For the Samsung Tocco on Dolphin 35 (18 months) with a free PSP:
((£35 * 18) + 0 - £130) / 18) = £27.80 per month.

For the Samsung J700 on Canary 35 (12 months) with a free LCD TV:
((£35 * 12 + £14.99 - £200 / 12) = £19.60 per month.

A bit complicated, but it ensures that we give you the best value for money with all our deals!

These results are then calculated across all our retailers, with the graph showing figures starting from each handset’s date of release.

The Pay As You Go prices illustrate the lowest handset costs on Omio. These are naturally higher as the phone is being bought outright, instead of subsidised by a monthly fee to the network.

Both Pay As You Go and Pay Monthly prices are averages, updated on a weekly basis to keep Omio PriceWatch as current as possible.

The average monthly cost for all handsets in our Omio database is depicted with a dotted line, and gives you an idea of general price trends. This can be added to the graph by simply checking the box.
