Calum's blog has a decent list of applications which make the Viewty a little bit better to handle.

http://www.calumneilson.com/blog/software/list-of-viewty-software-extended/

It's hardly an App Store full, but the Viewty was difficult to develop software to work on and it means that there aren't many, but they're pretty good!

You'll need to hook up your Viewty to the PC to install these files, but just drag and drop them into the handset, and find and install them there.

Go through the comments section, there is a lot of good info to help fellow content starved Viewty fans!

Another great place for a step-by-step walkthrough to use the Media Builder. http://www.ku990.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=4457

Thanks a lot,

Couple of questions about the ‘callum site’…When I click the download button to save them on my computer, shall I click save or open? And where should I save them on my phone-I’ve tried this site before but I can never seem to get them to work

Any advice?

Sure, this is a major bugbear about the Viewty, they've made this process far from easy! If you have an SD card in the phone already, then it will already be configured so you can put this straight into your PC using the card reader (hope you have one!), or using an adaptor which goes into the USB slot.

Then the card will show up as a portable drive on "My Computer", and you drag the files which you have seved to PC (usually with the file type '.jar') into the "Games and Apps" folder inside the card.

If you are able to connect the phone up directly, then the process is very similar. Save the files to the PC, on desktop so you don't lose them, then drag them into the mso:/Games and Apps folder on the phone.

When done, go to the games and apps section in the phone and install the files when prompted. A long process, but they should work fine!

Thanks for that...still problems though getting it to work though lol

I have to connect the phone via usb, but do have a memory card for the phone. When i download the file from the website and save it to my desktop, should i rename the file to 'jar;? But when i do this, it warns me saying the file may be changed or something.

When i put the file onto the memory card and into the 'games and applications folder' it showed nothing in the folder on the phone

Any more help? Much appreciated...thanks

Sorry, I'm back! No need to rename the files to jar necessarily, they ought to have that suffix anyway.

Try do add them without changing the file names, they should show up in the phone's folder and you can install them from there. Good luck!

There's also a website called http://www.ku990.co.uk which lists all sorts of stuff and even has a forum site for people to ask questions and get info on games/apps, etc.

I have to say that the LG VIEWTY is one of the most awkward mobiles I've ever had... my friends don't talk to me any more as i never text them back, its just takes far too long texting with the touch screen. I'm 26 not 86 but this phone makes me feel like an old man as I'm always too tired to use it :(

I'm looking for a new mobile as my contract is up in Jan, found some great mobile shops on mallplace.com this thing is a virtual frigging shopping mall and it has every mobile shop I could ever think of. so please recommend a new mobile to me

That site is awesome! But like the Viewty, Mallplace is just a bit too slow! Moving around and seeing all the famous brands is a bit cool, but going into the stores takes too long! Guess it is a beta...

Love the fashion floor, but feels a bit like PlayStation Home...why use it unless you really enjoy the journey rather than the destination? Lucky the journey is so darn fun!

And why would you need to go there when Omio is here to compare mobile phones!
