Any ideas on the launch date in the UK. I see some reports saying the
end of Q2, some say Q3. I'd probably rather the Bold over the new iPhone
but if the release dates are months apart I'll probably just get the
iPhone...

Hi Dave! Well, a lot of people are saying Summer, which is suitably
vague, but a few companies are offering it Sim-Free as soon as August...
The specs for the Bold are pretty good, offering HSDPA connectivity and
the Bluetooth A2DP (which the iPhone lacks) in a pretty nice package.
I'd say wait it out with only a month's difference in it. Hope this
helps!

Thanks Ernest, I'll pretend I know what the HSDPA connectivity and
the Bluetooth A2DP actually do! Anyway, I'm just not convinced the email
on an iPhone is as good as the Blackberry so I think I'll wait...

The iPhone will support the "push email" facility, similar to blackberry
with the release of their new 2.0 firmware.
HSDPA is a type of data transfer "High Speed Downlink Packet Access"
Basically fast internet as long your network supports this (currently
T-mobile and Vodafone).
Bluetooth A2DP is wireless stereo support, so wireless headphones.

Sorry, I get used to all this terminology being my first language! So,
yeah, what phonegym said! :)

O2 definitely believe they have HSDPA coverage. I also spoke to an guy
at the O2 store who claimed the iPhone 3G would do HSDPA at 1.8Mbps
(presumably as a max).
Here's their coverage map: http://www.webmap.o2.co.uk/map.asp

What's the deal with the colour back plates. Are they interchangeable
like the facias on the old old Nokia. Is it likely people will 'pimp
their Blackberry Bolds' by investing in a novelty back plate?

The bold will be out this month on Vodafone which is pretty exciting
stuff, I have already had a play with it and i fell in love with it i
will be definitely getting it once its on general release.
