Apple iPhone 4: What You Need To Know
Due for release on 24th of June, iPhone 4 promises an improved display, a refreshed form factor and a host of new software features in the iOS 4 update.
Sporting a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 640, the iPhone 4 has the highest definition display yet seen on a mobile phone - 4 times that of the 3GS and with 78% of the pixels on the new iPad.
Clearer images, smoother video and more legible text make the iPhone 4's screen a wonder to look at.
The camera has been improved to a 5-megapixel effort complete with an LED flash, whilst the recording capabilites enhanced to capture high definition video in 720p on the fly.
A basic in-built editor can trim your mobile masterpiece, whilst the new iMovie app will enable you to add cuts, edits and even a musical score, all using the device itself. Upload it to your favourite social networking site with ease using 3G or wi-fi connectivity.
Enjoy multitasking on the iPhone 4, with the ability to run third party applications in the background a welcome addition. Stream tracks on Spotify whilst playing a game, or switch between menu options without skipping a beat.
The iPhone 3GS is also capable of running the new iOS 4 software, but lacks the three-axis gyroscope and new glass and ceramic form factor that is wowing crowds on the iPhone 4. The gyroscope adds further precise motion control to the new iPhone's apps and games, whilst the new design marks a impressive departure for Apple's mobile handset.
